Carmel Primary Suite
A 400 sq ft primary bath rebuilt around a freestanding tub, a steam shower, and a walnut vanity wall.
The owners had lived with a 1990s builder-grade primary bath for fifteen years. The brief was simple: make it feel like the kind of room you look forward to at the end of the day.
We took it to the studs. A new curbless shower with a linear drain replaces the old tub-shower combo, radiant heat runs under limestone floors, and a ten-foot walnut vanity anchors the long wall.
The freestanding tub sits under a reeded-glass window that brings the garden in without compromising privacy. Every fixture is unlacquered brass — the patina is part of the design.
